Who Has Seen The Wind
Fortunately with the temperature sitting at -17 Celsius, and preparations underway to head out on the ice of this prairie reservoir with my ice-fishing sleigh, I was happy that there was no wind as the wind-sock is indicating.
Earlier when I had left Calgary in the pre-dawn darkness, the temperature was -7 Celsius as a chinook pushed through from the west.
I had checked on the temperature in the Bassano area located 150 kilometers east of Calgary, and I wasn't surprised to find the temperature sitting at -20 C at that point, no chinook in sight.
One of the main purposes that I had in mind, was running on going tests as to how well the NiMH battery packs located in the battery tray of my FT-897D perform in the cold. Today was the perfect opportunity to run the tests.
I should mention that the manpack that consists of the FT-897D with the antenna of choice on this day is loaded in the sleigh.
