VE6AB Mobile Ops
Mobile Office
When you spend as much time in a vehicle as I do, and have a whole lot going on, whether it be working the bands on my radios, or looking for the next photo that I going to shoot, it goes without saying that things get busy in the interior of my mobile.
When I went shopping for a new vehicle, at the top of the list as to what I required in a vehicle is that it had to be ham radio friendly.....#1!
That meant that I needed a vehicle that would allow for antenna installs without compromise, an interior that allowed for the radio stack that came out of my previous mobile (F150) to be installed, and maybe as important as the above mentioned, it had to have a mobile version of my desk in my ham-shack at home.
Yep, that would be the console that you see in this photo covered in the tools that I need close at hand while going down roads less travelled.
The back seat of my mobile is covered in all the other necessities such as extra lens, filters, strobes, reflectors, cables, bean bags, etc etc, and at one time or another they all are temporarily placed on this console in turn as required depending what I have going on at any given time.
Of course at other times, if I'm working the bands, I may have my laptop sitting here for logging contacts, or maybe running a satellite tracking program, or possibly editing photos, or.....well the list goes on as to why I cannot get along without a console in my mobile.
