VE6AB Mobile Ops
Antennas and Such
Now you know, the backseat of my Avalanche is not used for carrying passengers, but storing antennas and camera gear!
For the record, the HFantennas in this photo are stored properly for tavelling, and are not haphazardly stored as seen here.
My 10 through 80 meter gearmotor antenna that I designed and built in 2012 has a proper storage rack, and not normally laying in the back window as seen here.
At the moment that this photo was shot, I was playing stationary ham radio, and had my 4" TuneSleeve linear driven HF antenna, that I designed and built in 2010 mounted in place on the back of my mobile.
Funny how it goes, as when I still had my previous mobile, which had a single cab with only a small extended space behind the seats with half doors for access, I realized that I needed more space.
So when I went shopping for a new mobile, one of the things at the top of my list, was that my new mobile had to have four doors with a back seat.
It may not be apparent in this photo, but the rear seats may be folded flat, and then the midgate lowered opening the cargo area up into the backseat area.
The rear window may be removed also, and stored in a recess built in to the midgate for safe-keeping.
So once I acquired my Avalanche, I thought I had more space than I was ever going to use.... Ya right!
