VE6AB Mobile Ops
The Jump Start
So I'm going down a backroad that runs parallel to this rail-line, and I notice this switcher locomotive pulled over with the hood up. I pull over and ask the engineer if he needs help.
He says....." I left the lights on overnight, and the battery is dead," I said that I had booster cables, and could give him a boost.
So in short order I had my Av pulled in place near the locomotive, and in no time flat the locomotive engine was started, not bad considering it was -30 Celsius at the time!
Aw....I'm just funning with you, as there no hope in hell that I could get the 1500 horsepower V12 diesel engine that powers this switcher locomotive to turn over any time soon!
In actuality I was shooting photos around the Richardson Pioneer elevator located near Carsland, that utilizes this switcher to move grain cars, and I being a rail fan, I stopped to get a better look at this GP15-1 locomotive wearing Pioneer elevator colors.
Expand the photo for a closer look.....
Here's the rest of the story on this small switcher locomotive......
