VE6AB Mobile Ops
Switching Transceivers 3 and 4
I was faced with the dilemma of having four transceivers in my mobile, and with only three antenna mounts in place.
Not wanting to install a fourth antenna mount on my mobile, as I drive into my garage at night, I had to come up with a solution to the problem.
One of the radios is the Yaesu VX-170 part of my VE6AB-8 aprs weather station mounted in the cargo bay, and the other radio is the TYT TH-9000 220Mhz transceiver mounted at the radio stack.
I got around the problem by installing the Daiwa antenna switch pictured here at the top right of the cargo bay. This allows me to use a single NMO antenna mount shared by both transceivers.
You may be wondering why I installed the Daiwa antenna switch in the cargo bay of my mobile. The reasoning on my part is the fact that the electronics for my weather station are located here, and that-way I do not forget to choose the proper antenna switch position when activating my weather station.
