Antenna Werks - Antenna Mounting
Larsen NMO 2/70K antenna with a one of a kind antenna mount made in my shop out of high tensile 1/8" stainless steel plate material,
The mount is fastened in place on my 2012 Chevy Avalanche through the use of one of the 5/16" fender bolts with included serrated washer.
This mount does not move no matter what speed that I am driving.
Larsen antennas are the most popular VHF/UHF antenna in use, and are rated at 200 watts dead carrier.

Where to mount antennas on our mobiles can be a problem when you have multiple antennas, especially if they are in the same band.
We want multiple radios mounted in our mobiles, monitoring different frequencies and bands, yet we are limited by the amount of space available to place antennas on our mobiles.
A question I get asked regularly, is how close can antennas be mounted to my other VHF, UHF, or HF antennas.
The answer I give is that you should maintain a minimum mounting distance of at least 1/4 wavelength apart for the lowest frequency antenna within the same horizontal plane.
For VHF antennas, that translates to roughly 19 inches.
This is the rule I have always used when installing antennas on my mobiles or for others over the years, and these guidelines have worked fine with all the multiple radios that I’ve used on the various mobiles that I have owned over the years.
Other than experiencing signal desense while a radio was transmitting; I’ve never had issue of one radio destroying the other.
Antennas on two different bands are less likely to interact with each other as compared to antennas on the same band. Your 2 meter antenna isn’t resonant on HF frequencies and your HF antenna isn’t resonant on the 2 meter band, so their proximity isn’t as much of an issue, as two VHF antennas mounted next to each other.
So use the 1/4 wave spacing for mounting, and you will be good to go.
