Roof of the World
Playing ham radio while backroading in Banff Park has its rewards beyond the ham radio side of it, as the main CP railline passes through the park with access to passing trains minutes away.
The VHF/UHF transceivers that we use in our mobiles, also allow for monitoring the railine frequencies, and I have the rig in my mobile programed for all the frequencies of choice used by the CP.
If you click on the photo to expand it further, you can see the locomotive of an eastbound CP grain train just coming into sight, as it enters Morantz curve bordering the Bow river.
