Atkin Hotel
When I finished building and painting this hotel and installed it on my 1950's era HO industrial switching layout, I would look at it and know that it needed signage to finish it properly.
The roof-top sign is typical of the signs placed on buildings to advertise products, and at the time cigar smoking was the norm.
As you can see I finaly got around to adding signs to it, the sign at the top rear a water transfer decal that I set with Decal-set bringing out the brick texture of the hotel siding.
The hotel sign hanging at the front is one I built from scratch, typical of the hotel signs that hung on the front of hotels in the 1950's.
Of course it goes without saying Hotel Aikin is not a 5 star hotel, not even a 3 star, but is a working man's hotel located in an industrial area out of the way where less than a dollar will get you a room for the night.
Of course it goes without saying when a diesel switcher rumbles by on the spur with a string of cars, it could disrupt your dreams.
