Come A Little Closer
Early morning finds me messing with a coyote's mind, the coyote located about 175 meters away at this point. He is working his way closer to check on sounds that he thinks is potentially a meal being served up at my location.
In actuality the sounds of the meal the coyote hears, is the distress cries of a wounded rabbit coming from the speaker of my electronic caller.
Now if your a predator hunter, you know I'm not very serious in my attempt to call him in, as I would normally place the caller further away in a seperate location from my location, as not to alert the coyote to any movement on my part, and the location picked based on the direction of any wind present.
This outing was more about checking out my new electronic caller that replaced a old one I've owned for years, that one missing many of the features of the new one seen here.
The remote control included with this one has 200 different sound files (with room for 100 more), and a 100 meter range with the caller, a vast improvement over my old electronic caller.
The caller itself has an included motorized decoy that is controlled from the remote, adding movement to the setup for a more appealing combination of sound and movement.
Oh, in case you were wondering what happened to the coyote, the wind gave me away when he picked up my scent, and the last I saw of him was as he disappeared into a nearby coulee.
Like I said, it was more about familiarizing myself with my new caller, the coyote can wait for another day.
For the record, I actually will use this caller for the same purpose that I used my previous caller, shooting wildlife photos amongst other things.
