Shut The Front Door
I have photographed the remains of this stone house in the past, and finding myself in the vicinity on this day, I stopped in and spent some time working it with my metal detector.
It is easy to understand why the house was constructed from stone, as the prairie in the area has rock lying everywhere, where-as the person that built this stone house would have had to travel a 100 miles to locate the trees necessary to construct a house from wood.
This must have been a very lonely location for a homestead a hundred years ago when someone built this house, as its still a lonely place all these years later.
It was especially so on this day, as the wind was blowing at a good clip, and thistles that hadn't blown away over the winter were passing through on their way to distant horizons.
Yes, there is a lot of interesting junk (treasures) in the remains of the cellar between the walls of this old house.
