With spring 2018 having finally arrived weather wise, for the first time while out checking on conditions I actually was looking to get rid of my hoodie!
Now that's saying something, as I had already left my normally worn layers in the truck before heading out down the trail.
For the first time this spring, I was noticing various bugs and spiders in these grasslands going about their business, which in my mind signified the true start to spring.
While taking a break as seen in this photo, I was listening to a nearby Western Meadowlark, one of three located nearby and close together, and the song the male was singing, was probably him hoping to attract a female meadowlark with setting up a nest in mind.
All the while the two other meadowlarks were busily searching on the ground for insects to feed on.
The air was also filled with the sounds of many species of birds, some of which were waterbirds swimming and bobbing about on the river located just in front of my location.
With the goings on of spring happening all around me, I was in no hurry to move on.
