The Train Crew
The iconic F-unit diesel locomotive CP 1401 leads this vintage train, powering more than 10 beautifully restored Royal Coachman Pacific heritage cars on the Brooks sub near Indus AB.
This may be my favorite vintage train, and in fact I shot enough photos of this train over the past year to catch Canadian Pacific's attention, with one of the photos I shot in 2017 of this vintage train headed by CP 1401, to be featured in the CP 2019 calendar.
I seem to always catch the train crew's attention while they pass by giving me a friendly wave or a toot on the horn, maybe because I'm shooting off the cargo bay of my Av, and sometimes if I need a higher shooting position, I'll climb up on the sail of my Av!
That's one of the reasons why I purchased the Avalanche originally, as it has a great shooting platform in the form of the cargo bay cover, rated to support up to 250 pounds of photographer and related gear.
