The Yagi Did It
In this photo, I am running tests with my antenna analyzer connected to the 3 element take-down yagi that I designed and built in my shop some time ago.
The reason I added it to the mix as seen here, is the fact that I recently was set up in this exact spot with my mobile, and the APRS weather station mounted in the cargo bay of my mobile, was not being heard by a distant digipeater.
Realizing that I needed a better antenna ( the vertical mounted on the rear corner) when operating my APRS weather station under adverse conditions, I decided that a small yagi would be in order to fix the problem.
So with the 3 element yagi in play, and pointed at the same distant digipeater, I am now being heard, and the beacons from my weather station are being kicked up into the Internet at aprs.fi.
Of course it goes without saying that when the antenna is in play, the yagi is oriented in the vertical position.
Now its time to get that mast raised and those antennas in the air.
Here is a description as to how the yagi came to be.....
Here is a look at the rotator under construction for this array......
