I have always liked trains, starting from when I was a kid and my dad and I had a model train layout in our home.
Our train room was dedicated to a HO layout, built in from wall to wall, with operating positions built in to the layout.
That was then, and this is now.....
Early morning finds me pulled over near a CPR rail line, where with my Grecom PSR-800 radio scanner, I am listening for the defect detectors used to scan passing trains for hot box conditions.
A couple of the frequencies that I find this activity on are...452.9375, and 457.9375 Mhz.
Some of these detectors also have automated mile posts, which send an automated radio signal to the train crew listing the train number, track number, and train speed.
